Aside from rich, Catholic & conservative, any thoughts?

I am in my mid-40s and we used to call it Vanillanova.

I’m in my 40s, and we called it Villanofun. Everyone I know who went there loved it though.

DC attended and had a great experience. Good faculty good location, great school spirit. A lot of construction in recent years has been additive to the campus. New dorms, new performing arts enter. Very strong Business, Engineering and Nursing programs. Great opportunity to get to know professors. Great alumni network. Yes, very Catholic, but not as conservative as you think. It is fair to say its not as diverse as other schools.

I have a current student. Selectivity has gone way up in recent years. Less conservative than you probably think, I'd say there's a healthy range. I do think there could be more diversity and it seems they're trying to improve on diversity and inclusion. Lots of pre-professional students who are smart and well-rounded, very involved, lots of service, huge school spirit, strong sense of community. Campus is very nice & major additions recently, alum network is really strong. Overall seems to be thriving and on the way up by many measures.

We called it Villa Nowhere

We toured it pre covid and while the campus is beautiful, the whole place felt blah to me. Kids didn’t seem happy or very friendly; there wasn’t any energy in the place. The student body is incredibly homogenous and quite frankly boring in its lack of diversity. Also, it was so strange - literally 90% of the student body was wearing Villanova gear. It was bizarre, almost stepford like. I think the phrase VanillaNova fits. Having said that it is probably a good fit for some students and it is a solid education.

What does that mean? It is in a great location on the Main line outside Phila. Great college town. My DD got rejected this year and very disappointed. They have a great business school.

I just commented above about my daughter getting rejected. This TOTALLY makes sense. She is AA and agreed it is very VANILLA but loved the business school. Their LOSS!!!!

No loss to your DD. Probably a blessing in disguise.

A very pro-Trump family I know has a kid there. That says something.

Do they still have visitation hours for the women’s dorms/floors? (Technically for the men’s too, but they never seemed to monitor/restrict/care about those. Read into that what you will.)
