| Dartmouth and Princeton are arguably the two most preppy ivies; I just wanted to see which of these schools you think is more preppy. |
|
I would go to Princeton. Otherwise, choose Harvard, Yale, Columbia. Maybe Brown.
That is all, unless Wharton. |
Did you even read OP's question?
|
Dartmouth is more outdoorsy preppy while Princeton is more eating clubs preppy. But both have all kinds. Plus, this year will be the least preppy of all - they admitted such a diverse pool of applicants this year. |
| Isn’t preppy why many people want to go to Ivy League schools? Connections to the upper class and prestige? |
|
Dartmouth is not preppy anymore. Like many colleges mentioned on here, Dartmouth has changed a LOT since some of us parents were in college.
It is apparently know as one of the "weirder" schools. My DC described it as the really "off" kids with blue hair. Woke for the sake of woke type of culture. Not the Dartmouth of the 80s from what I gather. Many schools change. |
| How is OP defining preppy? People who went to prep school? People who embrace the preppy aestethic of pastels? |
"Eating clubs preppy" doesn't really make any sense because the eating clubs have vastly different "personalities." Some certainly would be called "preppy," but others very much would not. |
| Preppy= White |
This is absolutely not true. Still pretty similar to the Dartmouth of the 80s. -An alum and parent of a current Dartmouth student. |
|
If you're a real prep, you wouldn't have to make this silly thread.
|
also OPs kid probably would get into the ones that actually draw from prep school kids |
68% of Americans in the newly admitted Princeton class identify as POC, so the path forward on preppyness is apparently not particularly White. |
Preppy doesn't mean upperclass or prestige now though - in Southern public schools particularly it means Vineyard Vine polos, salmon-color pants, etc. |
Do the POC identify as preppy? Preppy = exclusivity and white. |
