Kilmer to TJ

Anonymous
Hi all, I have a current 7th grader who is doing very well at Kilmer. I had never thought TJ was in the realm of her possibilities but maybe it is. What do I need to know to prepare for the application? Break it down to me and please be patient as I am trying to educate myself.

Lol. This doesn’t look good.

I would talk to your child’s guidance counselor and check the FCPS web site. Make sure you write down all the deadlines because those are hard deadlines.

The most recent data I could find shows Kilmer does well...

Kilmer stopped sending many kids to TJ once the Great Falls AAP kids went back to Cooper, and the number is likely to continue to decline.

OP, ignore these posters. They are honestly just trying to discourage your kid from applying to there’s one less application agains their own kid’s application. It’s disgusting.
If your daughter is interested in TJ, talk to the counselor and have her talk to her counselor as well to make sure she is on track and knows all of the deadlines. Best of luck!

No one here can give you advice because the process has fully changed. There is a quota for kilmer (and each school). They consider “experience factors”. There are no teacher recs this year. Who knows about bext/

There is no quota, but there is a minimum spot allotment for each MS, which means more than that minimum can attend. And yes, there are people who know and understand the new process.

Yes, there is quota, it looks like Carson middle school parents say this to reassure themselves.
