Tonight I noticed he was standing at the toilet for a little while before he peed; he told me it occasionally takes up to a minute before it comes out.
He’s 49 and fit. Is this normal? |

Somewhere around 1/5 to 1/4 of men at 50 years old have benign prostatic hypertrophy, which would be the most common reason. There are other reasons (including serious ones that need to be addressed), so if this is his norm, he should discuss with his own physician.

Was it because you were watching him?
How is the stream strength? |
| What is his race? If he’s black, he should definitely get it checked out for prostate cancer. Regardless I would ask his doctor. |
| Weird you watch him pee. Even weirder you posted a thread about it. |
| I think wake up pee is like that for men. Was it first-wake pee? |
I completely disagree. I think OP sounds like a loving spouse who knows her husband well. When you care about someone you pay attention even when you are not purposely paying attention. |
| Sounds like BPH. |
+1. What’s wrong with you, earlier PP? Do you have no clue what it’s like to love your spouse and want them to stay healthy? |
| Bumping this. I have also noticed this just in the past three months. How would you address? PCA is female and no way will DH do a prostate exam with a female. Any good recommendations for doctors in NVa? |
You are a cruel person. OP is clearly a loving, caring spouse! |
| Nothing like a bunch of women chatting about a man peeing. DCUM at its finest. |
I would say inflammation related to prostate. |
This is not “a bunch of women chatting about a man peeing.” It’s noticing a difference in the health of their partner. Perhaps you are in your twenties and unaccustomed to this? |
this IS the health forum, what's the problem exactly? |
