An older mentor of mine had a saying about Volvo’s
“If you have money, drive whatever you want. If you want to make other people with money think you have money, too, then drive a Volvo” The insinuation being Volvos are in constant need of expensive repairs. This has always stayed with me. |
| I found the seats uncomfortable and the infotainment system harder than needed to use. I don’t like the twist knob start...but safety features are awesome. |
| I have an XC 90. I love it. |
| I liked mine and safety ratings were great but it was a hassle (and expensive) to get fixed so we replaced with a Subaru. |
| Love Volvos. On second XC90. |
Haha, we had multiple Volvos growing up and they were constantly in the shop. Not a wealthy family but my parents are now lifelong friends of the mechanic .... I have a Subaru. |
| I have the XC40. Love this car. Not my first Volvo—bought first one in 1988 and drove for more than 20 years. Had a Volvo wagon too—loved it but traded for a minivan. I don’t know what the PP meant by twist knob start— mine is push button. |

I had a 2001 V70 T5
Now a 2013 X/C 70 T6 I love them. I keep them maintained well, never had any serious problems. |
Just because yours is push button, doesn’t mean they all are. The more expensive ones have a knob in the center console you twist to start. |
| Adding my +1 for those that love their XC90. Love mine too. |
| Mine was a lemon. |
| I still don’t understand how they’re in business but SAAB went out of business. Does Ford or somebody own Volvo? I suppose now I’ll Google it. Saab’s were hands down better in all ways. A real loss. |
Volvo is now Chinese owned. |
Two reasons. Obama's hack "car czar" Steve Rattner forced General Motors to cut brands (SAAB being one of those brands). And two, Volvo was about 4x larger than SAAB. Here are their sales figures leading up to the Great Recession and SAAB closing up shop: Volvo: 2005 123,587 2006 115,807 2007 106,213 SAAB: 2005 36,071 2006 30,560 2007 32,711 |
