Just because yours is push button, doesn’t mean they all are. The more expensive ones have a knob in the center console you twist to start.

Lordy honey. Did I call your mama a bad name? Why are you getting so worked up?
And if the twist knobs only come on the 'more expensive' models and are giving people trouble, I guess I am glad I got the cheap one.

Love my Volvo SUV.

Have a v90 and love it - great handling and ton of trunk space. Had a s40 for a decade before that and never had reliability issues - though I did stay on top of maintenance.

I don’t think volvos (or any other brand) from the 80’s or 90’s is relevant to today’s quality, good or bad. For example, I think Honda has gone down (I say this as the past and present owner of multiple Honda’s.)

The insinuation being Volvos are in constant need of expensive repairs. This has always stayed with me.

OMG, that’s hysterical!!!

And so true.

Eh, I've had an XC60 for almost 10 years, and the repairs have been fairly minor this entire time. Probably spent $1500 (not including tire replacement) on repairs. I feel like that's ok. It still runs like a tank, which is great. Will probably last another 10 if we take care of it.

Same here-- have an XC60 going on 10+ years (80K) and love it. We've have really had minimal repairs. Most expensive thing has been changing the tires regularly.

Two reasons. Obama's hack "car czar" Steve Rattner forced General Motors to cut brands (SAAB being one of those brands). And two, Volvo was about 4x larger than SAAB. Here are their sales figures leading up to the Great Recession and SAAB closing up shop:

Volvo:
2005 123,587
2006 115,807
2007 106,213

SAAB:
2005 36,071
2006 30,560
2007 32,711

SAAB was selling re-badged GM cars, like the Cadillac SUV built in Mexico. They lost their SAABness.

I’ve known Volvo owners so angry with that car. They turned it in and got something else. Very well yo do people. Too much maintenance.

Volvo's quality improved dramatically from the Ford years once it was taken over by Geely. While Geely may be Chinese owned, Volvo is still designed and built in Sweden. The influx of Chinese money combined with allowing Volvo creative autonomy makes for some really nice cars.

I adore mine. Plug in hybrid xc60. The infotainment whatever isn’t great but it has CarPlay so who cares.

As we used to say, SAABs are for people who drive in the left lane, Volvos for people who drive in the right lane.

Don’t support Red China. Don’t buy Volvo.

It is made in China now.

We have a 2007 XC70 that we love. We haven't had any major repairs or breakdowns. We keep up with the regular maintenance and we haven't had a problem. We are planning to buy another one when we decide it is time for a new car.

Having said that, as you can see we keep our cars a long time. I have been WFH since 2004 and we live in the city so se can walk or take public transpo for many things (pre-pandemic). My car only has 110,000 miles on it.
