Gizmo watch

Considering getting one for my ten year old. Any feedback? We have AT&T but it looks like Verizon sells it- does it matter we have a different phone carrier? Thanks!

We bought the Ticktalk for our 8yo. I like it fine for our needs. She plays with a neighborhood friend for an hour and I can track her, call her, and can set a timer on it. The batter runs out quickly though so not sure it would last a full day if you needed it to.

We have one and Verizon just lets you pay a monthly fee for it if they aren’t your carrier.
It’s great to have and we’ve been happy with it for many years. It’s now being used by the younger sibling.

Is this one through a phone provider? Monthly fees?

Why does it have such bad reviews on Verizon? I'm interested in getting one for my almost 10 year old but these give me pause though I know a lot of people who have them and love:

We’ve had one for both kids and liked them.

PP here. It’s $10 a month.

We had it for a few years and liked it. It was $5 a month if you have verizon and $15 a month if you don't.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Have people bought directly through Verizon or on Amazon etc?

We use them for all three of our kids and it's been really helpful. I like the limitations - they can only call and text specific contacts. I like being able to track my children when they are walking home from the school bus stop, biking to and from the playground etc.

Where did you buy and is the service separate?

Verizon store

It has the functionality we wanted, but my 11 year old hates it. It's definitely a "baby" watch, and now that he's in 6th grade and lots of kids have real phones... he really won't use it.
So I feel like at 10 it might be a little late for the gizmo, and time for a "dumb" phone or something like that instead.
