Anyone have thoughts on this? Have people bought directly through Verizon or on Amazon etc?

I've only heard good things about it... interestingly I bought a family member a gift card from Verizon and THAT (the gift card!) had bad ratings! I wonder if their site has been hit by bots/spam.

So I feel like at 10 it might be a little late for the gizmo, and time for a "dumb" phone or something like that instead.

Stop the madness. CHILDREN do not need cell phones, no matter what their friends have. Be part of the solution not the problem. Gizmo has been awesome for my 10 year old.

My 10 yo loves it and we like knowing how to reach her when she’s walking to a friend’s house or home from school.

If you love it, where did you buy / sign up for service?

We love ours too. I especially love the gps tracking feature. I love how my kid is not going to drop it somewhere and lose it. The battery lasts half a week if you don’t use it much.

Human nature. More likely to post bad reviews than good ones. If the product works, no need to go to the website. (PS same concept applies to the DCUM school forums. The people happy with their schools are generally not hanging out there, so the disgruntled folks carry a lot more weight than the satisfied ones.)
