Axios with the scoop. I'm skeptical. He's a troll, so it wouldn't be above him to float this for laughs. That said, if he wanted to be the 'Tucker Carlson' of Newsmax, there's space. And Newsmax is headquartered in Florida.
"Matt Gaetz eyes early retirement to take job at Newsmax." https://www.axios.com/matt-gaetz-retirement-congress-newsmax-e1a0e6bb-0279-4e97-ab22-508e28f4347a.html |
Reminds me of Jason Chaffetz and his weird departure to become a Fox News "contributor." He was certainly a lot more visible and powerful in the House. He sorta faded away and now does random conservative podcasts and talk radio.
Gaetz is pretty young. I could see him being very successful at Newsmax. He is a lot more personable than a guy like Chaffetz. Still, this feels weird too. |
Blowback from claiming his "son"? |
Maybe. Investigative pieces by journalists can get squashed once someone is out of power. He might be trying to head off a story. |
DH mentioned a tweet (he can’t remember whose) about these conservative clowns - Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Green, Madison Cawthorn - and how they don’t give two shts about governance, they’re just there to elevate their profile. Gaetz quitting right now would support that, as does the fact that Cawthorn doesn’t actually have a policy staffer.
Bye, Matt. Hope you don’t still drink and drive. |
More likely the law and his efforts over the past 4 years catching up with him. |
Oh snap, I called it! Getting ahead of a story... |
"Investigators are examining whether Mr. Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws, the people said." |
thoughts and prayers
and won't Nestor be jealous? |
Are all the Q-Anon/ Comet pizza crazies going to lose their minds over this? |
Gaslight, obstruct, PROJECT.
Always and forever! |
Just wait til Gym Jordan gets indicted. |
If the way my Trumpy relatives act, nah. It’s not like their sources will tell them about this, and even if reality sneaks in somewhere, it’s like they just hear white noise and not words. |
