I really don't see how we can have school based virtual options at every school.

I don’t get the speaker asking for a virtual option next year at every neighborhood school. I’m guessing there will be VERY few kids electing virtual. Are we seriously supposed to impose concurrent on a class if there’s say only 2 kids in a grade that pick virtual? I also found it ridiculous that she insinuated people who choose virtual in non-covid times do so because they choose to. There are always kids that are sick or with disabilities that do virtual Virginia because they need to, not because they want to.

+1. A dedicated county-wide virtual class is so much better than concurrent. If parents insist on school-based virtual, it will end up being concurrent, to the detriment of all.

I can’t watch right now (trying to convince a baby that it is time for bed, hence DCUM!), but have they gotten to return to school yet? I really want the sb to ask the staff hard questions about why they’re not even trying to get back for more days, but I’ve lost all faith that they will.

I didn’t hear the speaker, but this insistence on a virtual class for every school is just dumb. If it’s all virtual, those kids aren’t going to see the rest of their “community” either way, so why not group together kids from a few adjacent schools into a full class so kids stay with virtual peers from their own school but also have an adequately sized class and can have an expanded community in that class? It’s hard to see what their advocating for as anything but one more attempted roadblock to in-person learning.

I'm a resource assistant and concurrent is so much harder than in person or virtual for me. I never feel like I have enough time. I am crossing my fingers for 5 days in person only next year.

Isn't it interesting that the people who yell the loudest about equity really don't want their children mixing with schools that aren't "theirs"

I read this as 'trying to conceive a baby' and thought to myself- that sounds like much more fun that watching a SB meeting.

concurrent is the absolute worst. The push from the teachers to ditch concurrent was a major driver for FCCPS returning 5 days a week after spring break.

As an assistant I don't really have to do much prep, just modify things while working with students. I can't imagine doing all the other things. I am so, so happy to be back in the building even twice a week. I'm disappointed that we aren't adding more days this year but hopeful some of my caseload will come back in soon.

can she just keep her kids at home and stop with this already?? Many of us are OK with the safety mitigations in place and want to advocate for MORE DAYS IN PERSON!!
