Plane crash DCA?

I honestly cannot imagine a worse thing happening to anyone-spending your life raising two girls who are doing what they love at the highest level and then losing them together. These parents were taking them to practice 25-50 hours a week--it was likely their entire lives. I think I hope the parents were also on the flight-it seems kinder. I don't know how life can be so cruel. It's unfathomable.

The worst would be if only one parent was the other just lost their whole family. As a mother I am just crushed for the loss of these children and know how much love has been poured into them.

This is terrifying

Yep. Three truly villainous people are currently being questioned at confirmation hearings at the exact same time.
And it’s a great distraction while the administration continues its horror show of decimating government while people are focused on this tragedy

Not so sure about the so called training.
I thought they delivered VIPs to CIA, no?

Yes, they dropped the VIP(s?) off at Langley and then a less experienced pilot took the controls for "training hours" for the flight back. They are very much trying to hide that the reason the helicopter was there at all was because some faux-VIP wanted to skip traffic.

If you know this, report it anonymously to the NTSB

It’s in the public flight record that the helicopter originated from the area near Langley.

My prediction is the government would lie and I was told that a dead pilot can’t lie.

If what PP said is true and a VIP wanted a chopper ride home, then the government is lying by saying this was a “training” flight.

Still, given the incompetents currently running the government, you should point them in the right direction. The idiots need all the help they can get.

Weird. That flight path makes it look like it took off from a mansion in McLean, not HQ at Langley.

Did the helicopter take off from a neighborhood in McLean because that is what the attachment shows? If so WTF, and clearly not an annual training like they are saying.

So they sabotaged it? I doubt that very much. I have a higher opinion of FAA employees than you do.

Not sabotage. Stress.

Remember that one of Trump’s people said their goal was to “traumatize federal employees.”

Was this actually an ATC error? I thought it was mainly the helicopter error.

No one knows yet.

To me, it does look like some element of ATC error. It clearly was not communicating to both the helicopter and the airplane that they were headed straight for each other and need to take action.

I hope this is not the case, if so, air travel will be in question for a very long time in the future. I had a very unfortunate incident on a recent flight into BNA that left me with great pause in my mind about our current ATC and its’s standards. Prayers for the victims and their families, and for the country

We are short 1,000 ATC. It is one, if not, the most stressful jobs in the world with high burnout, suicide rates, etc. And then we pile on them this month and threaten them and send them emails that we are going to can them.

Do you know how many training hours are required for the job and we have not had a SINGLE crash in over two decades..but lets blame this on the Feds, the ATC. Stupid Fs

Trust in govt is at an all-time low. We can see the helicopter slam directly into the side of the aircraft. We can hear the ATC communication. We can see AA and safety board saying plane was on correct path, correct altitude, etc. Yet----we already can see the cover-up beginning...

Hell, even Hegseth stated it in his video! Admitted it: "...helicopter, tragically, collided with civilian airliner"

I can't with this moron.

"We had the highest standards when I was in office. They changed it all. Biden changed it and made it worse and look what happens."

"The helicopter could have stopped. It could have turned. Veered."

Please, some reporter ask what roll HIS cuts and firings played in this. HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.

Wow:

“We do not know what led to this crash, but we have some very strong opinions and ideas,” President Trump said from the White House.

He criticized the Obama adminsitration for the quality of air traffic controllers that Trump inherited during his first term in the White House, saying he needed to make sure they were of “superior intelligence.” The Biden administration, he said, “Changed them back to lower than ever before."

Trump is now criticizing “diversity” in hiring by the Federal Aviation Administration under his predecessors, after he ended a number of diversity, equity and inclusion programs across the government after taking office for his second term. There is no evidence, at least yet, to suggest that the air traffic controllers were at fault in the crash.

In his first press briefing back in the White House, President Trump, who has long been criticized for an “empathy gap,” quickly moves from mourning the victims to political attacks. He assails former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg as “a disaster,” blaming him for diversity objectives at the F.A.A. The inference is that diversity by definition means incompetent.

President Trump is now suggesting that the U.S. Army helicopter was at fault in the crash, saying that while the pilots of the plane were “doing everything right,” the helicopter that struck it was “going at an angle that was unbelievably bad.”

Of course he did. This is so predictable.

God this man is evil. Our military kills a bunch of civilians and he seizes this as an opportunity to further his anti DEI agenda.

Insanity.

I think this may be his "Mission Accomplished" moment. What an idiot.

This clip is going to be replayed and requoted over and over again. Imagine it may be the impetus in his firing, which will undoubtedly be soon.

Agree. Make no assumptions, no change course immediately was directed.

Well, Trump just said it's Biden's fault. What a "leader" he is.

That’s not true, the tower clearly advised the helicopter about the traffic, which plane it was and where it was going. Then they confirm visual separation. Then they actually do see it and tell the helicopter to go behind the plane. I don’t think there’s any way from what we could hear that the tower would anticipate the helicopter flying into the plane, but obviously we have limited info. But the tower does contact the helicopter before the crash.

It’s also amazing how he stayed so calm and redirected the other planes, especially that American pilot who was kind of a d$& about it.

They take off from Langley, clear the facility, and then turn on their public transponder once a short distance away.
