I actually don't think the party showed weakness

But yes, progressives live to kneecap Dems while ignoring Rs ushering a clownish totalitarian state

Biden showed weakness. Because he is weak.

If your daughter was murdered by an illegal alien, and the president of the United States got her name wrong and then apologized to her murderer, I'm sure you wouldn't have any problem with it.

I guess Rs feel like they finally found their in for criticizing the speech, eh? Biden wasn't doddering so you tried too energetic and angry - but when that didn't really stick, you're trying this.

Well, maybe try running a candidate who isn't a rapist taking away all our rights and see if that makes for a stickier campaign.

"Trying this."

LOL. No, we are criticizing him for apologizing to a murderer instead of apologizing to Laken Riley's family.

Yes, I hear you. It's a terrible story. There's no other way to see it. Terrible. I see the play, too - appeal to suburban moms by showing that Dems allow an environment where your daughter can be murdered by a man who shouldn't have even been here. I could be wrong - I often am - but I feel like you lose some of the power of this, when you've also taken away reproductive rights. I feel like you're better off with a different tack. If I were you, I think I'd go for "why are billions going overseas to conflicts that don't even involve us when here at home we aren't even getting as many Doritos in a bag as we used to," but the last thing I'm gonna do is advise Republicans.

My real advice would be to ditch Trump for literally ANYONE else. But, again, you've made your bed. Maybe he won't even sh** it this time.

Immigration and the subsequent crime issues are far and away the major issues for voters this year.

Well we'll see, first of all. But Rs lost immigration as their thing when they decided not to vote for the border bill thanks to Trump demanding they forego it. You don't get to do that while also saying you're the only ones taking this thing seriously. I think you gave Dems the win here by just cravenly refusing to actually work on solutions to the issues you keep claiming are so important.

Crime issues? I dunno. You keep trying to make that your winning issue. I feel like you keep losing elections with it, though. Not saying people aren't concerned about crime. I just think outside of MAGA world, it's not a great issue for you because you are running a criminal as your guy. You'd have better luck with crime if you seemed to actually care about crime. I think? We'll see?

I think you guys were running on "Biden's old!" and will keep trying to make that work - but it was undermined at the SOTU. Let's see if people forget that he did well and you can go back to that one. Not impossible.

I *think* reproductive rights and saving democracy are the big ones this time. We'll see I guess!

Everyone knew that border bill was a sham. It “allowed” 5000 illegals to cross EVERY DAY! That is NOT the solution we’re looking for.

I hear your shrieking and your frustration. But I think you lost this as your issue. Sorry?

It was a bipartisan bill. You tanked it because your poopy dictator got big mad that the border might actually get better - and I think we can see that he's not exactly brimming with deep thoughts about other ways American life could use his attention.

No. It was tanked - thankfully- because it was in no way a solution. If anything it could have made matters worse. You really think we should just accept 5k new illegals every day?

So Trump gets elected, they pass the same exact bill, and you run around here fist pumping the greatness of Trump...right?

The reality is the monster that killed Laken Riley was released into the US under the Biden administration.
As were his two brothers - also here illegally.

Biden had never uttered her name until the SOTU, and then he botched it.
He has never contacted her parents.
He will not acknowledge that his policies and lack of border security has led to this killer - and the killers of other Americans - into our country.

Laken Riley was an innocent victim.
She has become the face of Biden's border crisis.

Right! The current law doesn't allow us to just kick them out en masse and for some reason the MAGAs don't understand that. The law requires they get hearings first and the Lankford bill would allow all of that to be expedited.

Enough of maga understands that perfectly well; it’s a cynical ploy to keep their bigoted voters heated up and willing to go vote on Election Day.

Since the GOP killed abortion as a motivator for their voters and used it to inspire everyone else to vote, they have to have something. Trump’s a bowl of unflavored oatmeal now and only the diest of die hards is excited for him.

<b>Meanwhile Biden ground the GOP into dust on live TV.</>

Love this imagery! What made SOTU so interesting is that Biden put MAGA on defense while having fun! He was truly ENJOYING himself and his joy was infectious - even Lindsay was cracking up. I love the Happy Warrior Joe.

That's what they did with the Obama Economy => Trump Economy and with Obama/NATO funding and Trump NATO funding.

Is the president supposed to call the family of every person who dies in the USA?

Trump never spoke to the families of the US troops killed in Africa under his watch. I didn't see you getting upset over that.

Really? It’s not the most important issue for anyone I know. Maybe if Trump ever built the wall, Biden wouldn’t be dealing with this. “Build the wall!” A broken promise from Trump, who was going to let nothing stop him from doing this. A complete joke that all his followers have forgotten.

The crisis that the GOP decided not to do anything about?

I offer this advice: find a different issue. You don't get the border - or pretending to care about women's safety - after your record. I'm sure there's something else up your sleeve.

Yes - Trump did call the families of the soldiers killed in Niger.
Let's see.......
I recall him speaking frequently of George Floyd and even meeting with the family of George Floyd.

And, the murder of Laken Riley was far more egregious since she was a totally innocent victim.

The border crisis belongs to Biden. He started the crisis on day 1 of his presidency and has failed to take action for over 3 years. He owns it.
He could reverse the actions he took on Day 1 to help stem the flow.

He won't do that because then he would be admitting that he could have prevented this crisis all along.

This crisis is just ONE of the many that Biden is dealing with.
And, the voters know that.

She has simply become a tool of the GOP to take a swipe at Biden. GMAFB, they genuinely don't care about her. If the GOP cared about violence, they'd take even a single small step in response to grade school kids getting mowed down in their classrooms. But no, "that would be an infringement and, in fact, we need to make it easier to get guns". The GOP's problem with Laken Riley is that they played this card (and yes, she is a political card for them) way too early in the election cycle. But please, continue with your fake outrage to continue wearing out this story.
