Alexandria Tournament this weekend

Once again- Alexandria runs a good local tournament. My kids play for a fairfax county team and the brackets have been well matched, the refs good, the fields nice and it has been a great pre-season tournament.

Way to go Alexandria!! Saving money by getting parents to volunteer for everything while pocketing all the revenue. Alexandria team MUST participate in 2-3 in house tournaments to save more money by not paying a cost to participate in other tournaments like Jeff Cup, Wags, etc. I tip my hats of to the people on top getting rich but all you that fall for this junk you deserve to keep on paying.

Coach here (from a different club):
Their preseason tournament is run very well. Having had my teams play in Loudoun's, McLean's, SYC's, and Arlington tournaments over the years, Alexandria's pre-season spring tournament is up there. Its facilities, organization, and matchup assignments. If you'd like to discuss what you perceive as Alexandria's director being shady or whatever else you're trying to say, please start a thread with the topic.

I’m an Alexandria soccer parent and we weren’t asked to volunteer for anything....

It seemed well run and I enjoy tournaments close to home. Not sure what PPs beef is.

This is OP. I didn’t know there was controversy about Alexandria. My kids play for BRYC and I honestly thought it was a nice tournament.

OP here, you ever the DCUM forums fill up from lies because it's a wasteland of anonymous parents with confirmation bias?

Hilarious. How dare they put on a soccer tournament and not work for you for free! The audacity! You probably got pretty angry when your wasn’t immediately delivered free to your house and your stimulus check was not bigger. Instead of complaining, try to doing something productive with your life. The rest of us get tired carrying your sorry a$$es and then having to hear all the baseless complaining and whining about how your lot in life should be better. Get over it.

That’s a pretty extreme outburst. FWIW, I am confused about what you believe is ‘baseless complaining and whining’? If it is true that Alexandria teams have to play house tournaments at the expense of playing in Jeff Cup, WAGs, etc... that seems to be based on something very real and worthy of concern. Speaking of vaccines (although I’m not sure where this tirade came from), weren’t the Alexandria coaches and staffs the ones bragging on social media about jumping the vaccine line in Alexandria (wouldn’t want the old, at risk folks to get those shots)?

My kids play for Arlington—Volunteering at ASISt tournament is mandatory and labor intensive. It was tough for us to swing with multiple kids needing to be places and younger ones. I don’t think it’s odd at clubs to get volunteers.

False. Nobody is compelled to volunteer, some teams play at other tournaments (including Jeff Cup and Bethesda Premier Cup), and instead of doing more than four tourneys a year, top teams at older ages play in multiple leagues. Nobody is crying about not playing more tourneys except other clubs which apparently want more clubs to play in their tourneys. Other tourneys are perhaps $100 per kid - you really think anybody is getting rich by not sending their team to more tourneys? You really think multiple families want to spend still more money on travel and hotels to Richmond or elsewhere to play if the competition is comparable or worse than what top teams play in this area or via MLS Next or Acela? Nope.
