Grey’s Anatomy - redheads

Has anyone else noticed that this show has a disproportionate number of redheads? April and all of her sisters, Owen, Owen’s sister, some other guest stars... this really sticks out to me.

Well, hair color is genetic so it's not surprising that a redhead's siblings would also be redheads.

This.

Also, some could be bottle red characters and it just never came up in the storylines.

It also features more black people than can be found in all of Seattle.

That’s true across TV because it shows well on film. Most of it is dyed, like Grace from Will and Grace and even I Love Lucy. On grey’s, I suspect only Owen is a natural ginger.

Also, no one wants to talk about this but... a lot of natural redheads dye their hair. If you have red hair but its kind of faded (which inevitably happens as you age, usually) or if it's naturally very orange and you want a more auburn color, you do what everyone else does and enhance it. I don't know why, but people are obsessed with this idea of the "natural redhead", I guess because it's somewhat unusual. But it's funny because I'm a "natural redhead" who also dyes my hair red and people are so confused by it even though I know lots of natural blondes and brunettes who also dye or at least highlight their hair. It's very common.

There’s this non-permanent conditioner called “Clenditioner” that comes in a copper shade which looks great on redheads.
