Do you believe in curses?

I'm fairly certain that my neighborhood is a witch - albeit a "good" witch. I'm a highly intuitive person and I've always been wary of her and we've circled around the topic in the past. Last summer she invited me over to have drinks in her backyard and we had a heart-to-heart where she revealed the extent of her "power" and, I suspect, she tried to gage where I stood. I told her I believe in God and Jesus Christ and ground myself in that love. I haven't heard or seen her since.

I was rattled by the encounter for a week and then put her out of my mind and have gone out of my way to keep her name out of my thoughts and mind. I sent her an X-mas card heard nothing in return. I used to see her all the time and now I never see her. She's a very popular neighborhood mom and school volunteer - a role she's been cultivating for years. In the last few months I've noticed that mutual friends ignore me. People I've been friendly with socially have not included me and my kids in small things. It's almost as if I don't exist and now I wonder what's up. I understand COVID, but this feels different. Not sinister, but like I'm not welcome.

I've been reading the Old Testament and there are so many instances of the idea that a certain kind of evil and curses are out there. Now I wonder if she could have put a curse on me. Nothing too dark, but a curse. Is this possible or am I overreacting?

You can't be too careful.

I would advise the following:

Procure a snake and filet as well as an eye of newt, toe of frog, wool of bat, tongue of dog, adder's fork, blind worm's sting, lizard's leg, and owlet's wing.

Boil and bake.

Enjoy.

I think you are overthinking the encounter. Maybe she thought you were like minded. But unfortunately there was not much in common. Witches usually don't send Christmas cards so don't take offense. I doubt she would curse you. No worries.

Thank you. I know it sounds insane, but I also know people and she’s just a bit off and it kind of scares me.

How can I enjoy? You forgot to include the incantation I’m supposed to recite as the caldron boils!

Curious -- what is the extent of her power?

Scientific fact: In order for a curse or superstition to work you need to believe it does.

When I was a kid, I heard my mom talking with a neighbor who said that her sister when was a little girl had an evil eye and that nobody let her into the chicken coop or the chickens died. I was like five when I heard that and this scared me poopless, I avoided that person like a plaque thinking she might have the same evil powers. Best part is, nobody I knew at the time had chickens .. but one could never be too careful wen one is 5

Now come to think of it, that kid might have been just one mean kid who could have some psychotic tendencies and was killing chicken for fun. Who knows.

You have NOT put her out of your mind. You are obviously fascinated by the idea of there being a witch in your neighborhood.
