pk or K?

I was surprised that he was waitlisted given we are nobodies!

We got w/l for boy, preK and as much as I want to know all the details (how many other people are waitlisted, how many WLs did they take last year, etc, etc)...I also know how crushed I would be if we are 1 of 300 WL and they only took 2 last year.

It is what it is and if he gets off the wait list, they'll call. But I did wonder why they ask for another contact # if nobody answers from the first listed phone number. Do they need an immediate answer? Seemed odd to me.

WL boy pk as well. I wish I knew more info - like how many etc. I don't want to get my hopes up.

This is so hard!

Where else did you apply? Still waiting to hear from GDS and Primary Day. You?

21:16 here...he also was WL at St. Pats and waiting on Beauvoir

For some grades, in some years, a particular class may be overenrolled. This happens when more people accept than they were expecting. If your target class is overenrolled, then it would tough(er) to come off the waitlist. You can find up by calling them in a week or two.

I understand that it's real in the sense that it's short, but the chances of movement are lower than at, say, Beauvoir, which has a longer waitlist. I know five kids who were waitlisted for PK or K (not all in the same year); none got off the list.

Actually the chances for movement on the WL are higher than Beauvoir, because Sidwell's WL is small and real and Beauvoir's is very large with no transparency if it is real or a soft rejection. Also, keep in mind, with exception to Pk where Beauvoir takes many new families, all of the other years are basically the same intake numbers as Sidwell. Your best shot at getting into Beauvoir by and large is for PK, after that sadly it is very very hard. Beauvoir takes 10 boys & 10 girls for Kindergarten. After they only add students if a student leaves.

The whole application process in the city is very depressing.
