| So any rumors about Arlington placing teams in the ECNL-R? The CCL will look a lot different with out Arlington. |
| No it won't, two teams left I guess red will go into regional and then white ncsl? Where else is there to go |
Is Arlington leaving CCL confirmed, or just speculation at this point? |
| The ecnl rl is a terrible league, leaving ccl for that would be a massive mistake for Arlington. The league is run by pwsi, Richmond and VSA. All the decisions are made to only benefit those clubs. No showcases, no events, no coach education, no international trips, mediocre post season play where the league winners get out in a 4th bracket at ecnl events. There’s a reason nvsc, rush, syc and other clubs bailed on that league. |
If you are the ECNL you want Arlington(and Loudoun) boys and girls in the ECNL-r. More money in your closed system! |
ECNL-RL is great for U12 and below with lots of really good competition combined with manageable travel. Competition is uneven after U13. That's what happens in a league with no promotion or relegation, and it makes it bad for those at the top or the bottom of most age groups. One or two additions of bigger clubs like Arlington/Loudoun/McLean would really help though. Their top teams would be a great fit at U12 and below, and their second teams a great fit at U13 and above. I'm not sure what high level showcases you'd be looking for out of that group, but I am sure that your individual club can find whatever tournament competition is suitable outside of league play. |
sounds a lot like CCL |
| If Arlington and Loudoun do ECNL-R to match their ECNL, CCL takes a hit. Is there anything true to these rumors? |
Right. Of the two, I think RL would definitely be better if they had another club or two. With similar structure, its the added organization and stability that comes with some affiliation to ECNL that would make it better. |
| Arlington joining ECNL-R would mean the chances of the Boys side leaving for the MLS next year are basically nil. I think you might see some defections soon for those who would rather play in the MLS league. |
At u15, it's either Bethesda or DCU. The other teams won't be in it. SYC, Alexandria Red and Achilles will go back to EDP. Also, u12 loudoun's top team plays EDP. It's much stronger than CCL. |
SYC, Alexandria Red and Achilles will go back to EDP? Are they leaving MLS Next altogether? By choice or because they could not compete? |
that is exactly what I was thinking! why do we have so many leagues... |
|
On the boys side, they already state ECNL for 21-22 on the ID session site

| If the larger clubs put their top teams in ECNL Regional at U11 and U12 where would they play at U9 and U10? This is the overarching problem. You can do CCL and have good competition younger ages and mediocre at the U11 and U12 and then jump to ECNL. or do NCSL at the youngest ages and then do ECNL R for U11 and U12. |
