Forgetfulness and miscommunication caused us to have way too much sandwich bread! I don’t have freezer space. What can I make with all of the sandwich bread?
* French Toast |
| Have french toast ingredients and raisins? Bread pudding. |
|
Make freezer space!
|
| We go through sandwich bread so quickly. Avocado toast, fried eggs and toast, toast with jam, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, etc etc. |
| Make croutons. |
|
stuffing or strata
|
|
Strata
Sandwiches (make “special” ones like Monte Cristos, Croque Monsieur / Croque Madame, clubhouse, etc.) French toast Fried bread Bread pudding or stuffing (make as a side dish, doesn’t need to stuff anything) Flatten and make roll ups/ pinwheel type snacks |
| Op- I like the suggestion for bread pudding! |
Savory bread pudding is a good dinner. |
| I cut up all bread that is going stale and store it in freezer, pull it out to make croutons and savory bread pudding once I get sufficient quantities. Croque Monsieur is another idea. |
| feed to the birds |
| make breadcrumbs |
| bread crumbs and then stuffing |
|
Make stuffing. Serve with chicken or pork chops.
Let it dry out and make breadcrumbs. Put in fridge. It may dry out, but likely won't mold very soon. Use it for toast. Stale bread works fine for toast. |
| Make grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner. A family can go through a loaf pretty fast. |
