I’d like to get my 7 year old son in a league this spring. Any recommendations for leagues in the area? This would be his first year playing

Doesn’t anyone ever do a serve in this forum before starting a thread?

Anyhow, check MSI. Montgomery Soccer, Inc. They are all levels of play for your 7YO.

Potomac is the answer, the U8:coaches are fantastic.

Hopefully see you there!

Just starting out? MSI Recreation League will place your child on a team with children from their school. Great way to make friends who live in the same neighborhood and attend the same school. Also a great way for you to meet other kids parents too (if the pandemic ever ends). All while the kids are having fun amd learning soccer skills (which is what you want at this age)

Depends on if you want to spend a lot of money for a 7 year old or not. If you dont, which i would suggest not to, then I would suggest contact MSI or SAM Soccer and they will put you on a team where you live if spots are available.

+1. At 7 years old, you still don’t know if your DC will love and excel at soccer yet. Hence, try out Rec Soccer for 1 season or 1 year first before moving him to travel soccer. People think that by going to travel soccer at 7/8 years old, they will be better. This is completely untrue.

I recommend Brit-Am or Potomac. The head of Brit-Am is the technical director for Potomac so you can really try Brit-Am and then determine if you think travel soccer is a good fit. Both programs the directors for the young ones are amazing.

Brit-Am plays in MSI Classic (select soccer) so they are a paid-coached MSI Classic team. MSI Classic Teams are either paid coached teams or parent-coached team. I can’t speak for the boys’ teams and coaches, but in the girls side, they suck.
