Man and Woman in White Van Following Children in Bethesda

Apologies if there is already a thread posted on this. On Wednesday 3/3/21, a man and a woman in a white van followed a 13 yr old boy on a bike in the neighborhood behind Pyle at 4pm. They slowly followed to meet his pace and made a u-turn to continue following him. When he got to his house they yelled for him. An hour later, white van followed 2 11 yr old girls in Wood Acres. Again, did a u-turn to follow when they noticed and changed direction. This time the man and woman got out of the car and started to approach. When the mother showed up, they jumped back in their vehicle and sped away.

Police were dispatched but did not find van. Description is an older heavy set white man and a thin white woman. Please be careful and call the police if you notice anything suspicious.

We routinely see these stories on Nextdoor (as was this one). If any of these stories were even remotely true, the DMV would be the child kidnapping haven of the world.

I believe it. My friend’s daughter was pursued home by a man in a sedan a few years ago in east Bethesda near the downtown.

Also heard today that a friends 10 yr old daughter was approached while walking home from Little Flower School on Mass in Bethesda. Woman offered her a ride home. Be vigilant, this is creepy stuff.

I’m very skeptical about these types of claims. I remember reading the similar white van story before and nothing one out, which makes me believe it’s not true.

Remember when we had to be on the lookout for white vans during the DC sniper attacks?

There are always white vans in the vicinity. We should ban them.

Police checked security footage of residents in the area, and it’s my understanding they found images of the people chasing a kid.

I think you are ignorant of the prevalence of human trafficking; DC is a hotspot for it, by the way.

But that’s not to say you are an ignorant person: just unaware. The US DOJ publishes crime statistics available to the public.

Maybe you should become familiar with the facts, rather than relying on your uneducated skepticism.

There is always a surge in this kind of thing happening / being reported when the weather changes and people start walking in the streets again. Always.
