| For instance, it's currently ranked 30 on USnews. That would make it's peer schools UVA to Boston College (5 above 5 below). Is that accurate? Or is Tufts a bit better. |
|
Yes, it's underrated.
It's much better than both. |
| STEM programs are great... |
|
I don't think so - the other schools in that range are also great schools. The difference between 20 and 30 isn't really a meaningful one.
I will say that my kids friends who went to Tufts didn't totally love it, not sure what it is about the school but both my kids visited and chose not to apply. |
|
Personally, I think it's overrated, but maybe that's based on my knowledge of the Boston area college scene too many years ago.
Agree with the poster above. A friend's kid really did not like it. My niece visited and HATED the tour guide, so did not apply. She thought the school thought way too highly if itself. |
+1 Good school, good reputation academically from all I've heard. I would visit for vibe. |
| Our tour guide/admissions office was the worst of any of the college we toured last year. The school comes across more arrogantly than an Ivy. I think it is good depending on your major. |
Call US News and World report. This posters vapid kids did not like it, it should just be unranked.
You are bound to get this type of response every time you mention UVA and/or a Catholic University. |
Tufts is neither of those, so not sure how that observation is relevant. |
Agree. And some people do not care about the US News ranking. |
| Achievement of their grads any good? I only know one and she works at a dead end job since forever. |
Please go back to OP's post and read it, very carefully, maybe twice. Then come back and tell me your thoughts. |
| I know of several people who went to Tuffs and did not love it there. Tuffs is a like other large, private city schools (e.g, NYU) that charge a lot and offer prestige, but students complain that quality of life is poor (bad dorms and food), faculty and staff are generally not helpful, and there's no school spirit or community. |
Now do Marvard. |
| I would not think of UVA or BC as peers to Tufts. Tufts peers are Amherst, Williams and the like. |
