As a bilingual person who felt offended by the comments and think they shouldn't have happened, I also feel awful for the individuals who made them. This should be a learning opportunity, not national news.

I'm part Venezuelan and the convo sounds both private and innocuous. TBH, Venezuelan speaking English accents are cute. When my family does it, a lot of the words they pronounce sound cute. I wish people would stop actively seeking outrage; there's enough out there without manufacturing it. Or as we would say in venezuela - no es chevere hacer un bochinche sobre esso, pana!

I am willing to bet every one of those council members has laughed at Gloria on Modern Family, including Navarro and if she hasn't she is lying and if she is so insulted, why didn't she launch a crusade to have the show taken off the air?

This. None of us can live up to our own expectations. she needs a thicker skin and I lost a lot of respect for her. She just ruined 2 lives when a warning could have been sufficient. the world is becoming a boring place when we can't even make fun of each other anymore.
