DP I grew up in a Latin culture getting made fun of by my family for mispronouncing words in Spanish. I really hated it and I still have anxiety speaking Spanish (my native language). Which is why Navarro's response to this kind of pisses me off. It's annoying and disrespectful, but racist? Please.
OMG yes. Try speaking French or Italian or German and watch how you get made fun of. America has the standard "Midwestern " newscaster accent, but so much variety. I am a native English speaker who mispronounces a ton of words due to my reading vocabulary being higher, and I'm often asked where my accent is from and if I'm Canadian. Whatevs.
I haven't listened to the audio but it hardly sounds scarring. It sounds like they thought they were speaking privately and weren't even trying to be mean. Just chatting like we ALL do at work when we think no one is listening. This lady could have really taken the high road here and come off like
a great boss/leader.
