Vote for McK ES elementary name

Although you can choose three, remember that if you vote once, your vote has more power.

(warning, these are like the Key school options so whatever you think of them, you make think of these)

Omg. How awful.

Those are terrible. A random assortment of nouns, none of which are school names.
Anonymous
Could they have come up with worse choices?

The only one that makes sense is Cardinal since it is the school's mascot.

Cardinal makes sense. Kaleidoscope also makes sense, but what a name to spell!!

The others fit with the president set by Discovery. I know it was a skip, but it was also chosen to be aspirational, but like the silly names for Key. I guess if we are dropping people names, Discovery, Innovation and Exploration are our future.

*precedent

Funny autocorrect given they are dropping McKinley

I like Cardinal b/c it makes the most sense as the mascot and there's a chance a person in K can spell it.

Heard last night that the theme or common thread among these is geography in some way. Cardinal is the mascot of the current McKinley mascot but also a compass or geographical reference. Kaleidoscope for those who don't know is the name of the current school's arts exemplary program and many at the school are pushing for that to move to the new school.

I agree these are ridiculous aspirational names for both the new Key and McKinley buildings.

But what happens if they want to change the program down the road? Tying the name of the school to a program that is theoretically changeable seems like a bad idea. And as someone else pointed out, hard for young ES kids to spell.

My kid is in 5th grade at McK and the "Kaleidoscope" program is total BS. It's just words, not an actual thing.

Yeah, Kaleidoscope is the worst of the options IMO.

I could have gotten on board with Westover Elementary.

McK used to have an artist in residence. She retired years ago and the art focus shrank. Kaleidoscope makes no sense anymore. Cardinal has a VA connection and makes sense.

Although.....would they be the Cardinal Cardinals? Hahahaha
Anonymous
I'm cool with the Cardinal Cardinals and it's the only name that's the same in English and Spanish.
Anonymous
Westover would have made sense.

^^ Also easy to spell.
