| Hi, does anyone know if scores are rounded upward? I received a 4.8 out of 5, but only 5's get QSIs. I'm new to the government and don't was to ask directly. Does anyone here know how this works? Thanks |
It depends on the agency, and maybe even the office. At my agency we don't even do numerical scores. |
| My agency uses a 500 scale, above a 475 is outstanding and eligible for a qsi |
| It totally depends on your agency. |
| My agency only gives 1 or 0 QSIs per division. It seems like QSIs are pretty rare for my HHS agency |
| Only 5s get QSIs????? I received a perfect 5 last year and was told it was the only one my boss had ever given in 20 years of managing. It’s the first I’d ever received too. Didn’t get a QSI though because I’d been given one half way through the year and you can’t get 2 a year. |
Only 5s can get QSIs, but not all 5s get QSIs. As someone mentioned above, they’re expensive so usually only one or two people in each work unit can get one. Some offices require that you have a perfect 5 (vs a rounded up 5) to get one. |
Sorry I wasn’t clear. I get a QSI about every other year and I’ve never received a 5 before. |
You are most likely getting a Within Grade Increase (WGI). Same outcome, but QSIs are performance based. You can get a WGI and QSI in the same year. |
| Just coming here to say, all work performance ratings are bullshit. Try not to take anything personally. It’s annoyingly tied to raises and bonuses though. |
| I received all 5s a couple of years back and received QSI. I moved division and was told no one gets all 5s but you could still get QSI on lesser rating. |
+100 The ironic part is that the ratings have zero reflection on you and speak more about your supervisors’ neuroses or lack thereof. |
My sub-element of my agency doesn't give QSIs. Let that sink in. |
This |
I agree. It was important at first, but I don’t care so much now. I put in an honest days work and the rest is out of my hands. And honestly, in the end maybe I get an extra $1-2k bonus for a 5 rating and it’s taxed at a high rate anyway. Whatevs. |
