I wonder if the sheer popularity of the movie Frozen made it more popular. While Kai is not featured in it, the original Andersen's story
main characters are a boy called Kai and a girl called Gerda. He was swapped by the Snow Queen into her beautiful sled and
his heart was changed by the bit of an ice that got into it. Took Gerda a lot effort to get to find him in the Ice castle and her kiss
melted his heart finally. Original story is so different from Frozen.

Still, the name Kai rocks.

Florida? Go figure, it is more of a cold climate name to me

I would imagine that every other boy in Florida would be called either Ernest or Hemingway.

My son is a friend of Kai here in AZ. His dad is Hawaiian, so I just assumed that's where the name came from. Wherever it's from, I love that name!
