DH reacting poorly to quarantine notice

Anonymous
Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes:

Got an email today from school informing us that someone in DD’s class was diagnosed with covid and so the class has to quarantine and will be doing remote learning for at least the next 10 days. It specifically said that students from that class should not participate in any activities with people outside of the household during this time.

DD does competitive gymnastics 3x a week with a small group and the gym has been very cautious because they want to stay open. When I got the email I let her coach know about it and said we would get DD tested this week.

DH is pissed at me and thinks I shouldn’t have told the gym about it and just sent DD to training today because “she doesn’t have it”.

I doubt she has it, but ignoring the quarantine notice from school would be wrong. Not to mention that the girls talk and the other kids and parents will know she’s home because of a possible exposure at school.

I’m right here, aren’t I?

Of course you are right. And your daughter needs to quarantine for ten days regardless of testing results.

If my kid was in gymnastics with yours and I found out your kid was supposed to be quarantining and instead came to gymnastics I would be highly pissed. If I found out the coach knew and let your kid come anyway, I would be livid.

Your DH sounds like an a-hole.

Of course you are right.

So you have two children to deal with.

Of course you’re right. Some men are just incredibly stupid and stubborn about this stuff.

If I were the gym and you showed up when you're supposed to be quarantining, I would kick you out of the program for good.

And testing does not good so early. My husband got Covid and I tested too but didn't test positive yet because it was too early after my exposure. 3 days later I started running a fever and had full-blown Covid. And, yes, we and both kids quarantined fully for 2 weeks after each person's exposure/development of symptoms. It was a Looooong 4 weeks but it's the rule.

Wow your husband is a compete ahole. How would you feel if someone from gymnastics was exposed, didn’t tell you, still went to practice and hh Ave it to your daughter? Your daughter doesn’t leave the house for a week.

You are a very high risk family between school and sports. Yes you do the right thing. How is this a question?

yep. it also could lead to a lawsuit. I might sue over something like that.

Getting tested is not a substitute for the 10 day quarantine.

You are of course right op! Wow, it is shocking that after a year of this your husband still doesn’t understand the very basics of covid and how we are trying to prevent spread. Like truly the basics. I would be really upset.
