Uh no. You can turn positive 14 days after exposure.

No just get the test 4 days after and you are clear

Of course she shouldn't go to gymnastics.

I'm in the same situation now, my DC is quarantining because of a positive test in his class. He'll be at home for 10 days.

Your DH knows that she could have it and be asymptomatic right? Like my DC's classmate, that's why s/he came to school and only school-wide testing caught it.

Why is your DH so gung-ho to send her to gymnastics? Missing a week isn't going to do anything.

Totally wrong.

Nearly half a million people dead in this county and you are asking if it is worth potentially exposing other families to COVID-19 so that your daughter can attend a gymnastics practice? How is this even a question?

self-quarantine at home for five days, then get tested

That's the guideline

This OP. CDC guideline quarantine and test day 5 and quarantine 2 days for total 7 days (assuming negative test). Or 10 days quarantine without testing.

Your husband is what I call a manspreader.

Why the hell do you doubt she has it?? Ugh. People are exhausting. This is a highly highly contagious disease. It’s actually quite likely she has it since she was exposed.

Your husband is an idiot. It's entirely possible that she has it and is asymptomatic. My child caught it from a teacher, and she and her sibling were both asymptomatic.

And testing does not good so early. My husband got Covid and I tested too but didn't test positive yet because it was too early after my exposure. 3 days later I started running a fever and had full-blown Covid. And, yes, we and both kids quarantined fully for 2 weeks after each person's exposure/development of symptoms. It was a Looooong 4 weeks but it's the rule.

Maybe in your case, but not in most cases. My child tested positive two days after we got the phone call about exposure. Regardless, the contract tracer should give you a date that you are free to stop quarantining. Follow those dates.

No. You need to stay isolated for the full amount of time the contact tracer is telling you to be isolated. It used to be 14 days, now it's 10 days. And if you test negative, but then exhibit symptoms, you need to get tested again. The contact tracer should have told OP all of this, I don't know why she's playing dumb. They are very thorough.

Not according to the CDC. They recommend a 7 or 10 day quarantine.
