Amazon unveils first look at HQ2 - the Helix

Building design and plans have been released for HQ2 in Arlington/Crystal City.

Phase two of the company’s development in Arlington, Va., calls for three 22-story office buildings and smaller retail buildings surrounded by woodlands, an outdoor amphitheater, a dog run and parking for around 950 bicycles.

The centerpiece will be the site’s fourth and tallest tower, a 350-foot structure dubbed the Helix because it will feature two spiraling outdoor walkways with trees and plants from Virginia that twist to the building’s top.

Amazon, which is unveiling the designs on Tuesday, said the cluster of new office and retail buildings will accommodate around 13,000 employees, with room for more. The project is part of Amazon’s more than $2.5 billion, 25,000-employee office campus, which the Seattle-based company calls its second headquarters.

Love the modern architecture blending nature. You don't see this in U.S. design much - I think its going to be gorgeous.

Kind of reminds me of the Vessel in NYC, but will actually serve a purpose. I bet this becomes a tourist / instagram attraction.

With it being right on the river - there's no doubt.

Is it going to be situated so there's a way to get the river in a photo like the elevation drawing? I'm trying to picture a map and I just can't see it.

I'm Loving it. Probably too creative for the DMV, though.

You have to walk up the spiral through decontamination machines and temperature checks to keep the workplace covid-free. Once you pass all the trials, you receive the golden key that directs you to your open space workspace. The chlorox wipes shower their glory on you.
