What does this accomplish? I feel like it’s just going to piss off the union.

it’s illegal for the union to strike under the moa. the union is polling members about striking. this is dcps using the legal tools that are available to them to try to force the union to comply with the moa.

This, and I'm glad that DCPS is taking this action. I hope every AWOL teacher is disciplined to the fullest allowable measures.

It’s illegal to strike under the contract. It just seems weird to enjoin someone from doing something that’s already illegal.

It’s not like DCPS central has anything else to do rather than harass the union

This should end well.

But it appears the union is seriously contemplating a strike. If that happens, a judge would have to declare it was illegal and force them back. DCPS is just trying to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible so that as little time as possible is lost in litigaiton.

Apparently. Some op ed likened the union/dcps negotiations to children hitting each other with nerf bats. I haven’t been able to get the analogy out of my mind.

You have to rein in a union when they are encouraging illegal tactics. I will be disappointed if my kids' teachers are disciplined/fired, but it has to be done. You can't just go breaking the law. You can't just say you're not going to show up to work and think there are no consequences. In what other profession would that be allowed?

No one fired the mayor or chancellor for breaking the law. What double standards.

Seriously. I'll quit my corporate job and see how fast I can get a teacher certification (my sibling just did this in another part of the country.

However my kids have had enough awful subs during normal times. I'm not sending them back in person to have an awful sub. What a f'ing mess. Thank you teachers. Thank you Mayor. Thank you Chancellor.
