Are the s. PA ski hills really packed on Mondays?

Title says it all since a lot of places in MD and VA are Mondays async?

My husband took our son to liberty last Monday which was a teacher work day in FCPS and it was empty.

If you look at the resort cameras today for liberty and whitetail, both are packed due to the storm and great conditions.

I went to Whitetail today and it was ridiculous 2 hr line for rentals. Decent snow though.

I have read consistently that the rental lines are the worst.

How were lift lines? I want to go on Wednesday, but that’s another asynchronous learning day so worried about long lines.

PP here - the lift lines actually weren’t bad, but the rental process was ridiculous. Also no lodges and no lockers! So there’s nowhere to put your shoes. They want you to “use your car as your cubbie.” So you have to walk super far in ski boots to your car to drop off your shoes, then at the end of the day trek out to your car again to get your shoes and haul your ski boots back to return. Ridiculous.

If you're coming from MD/DC/VA, do you need a COVID test to ski at Liberty or the other PA resorts? Any recommendation for what time to show up for the rental lines at Liberty?

Are you suppose to get tested, yes. Is anyone following this and is anyone checking, no.

For rentals arrive 30 min before the lifts open to avoid rental lines. You can also print and fill out the rental forms ahead of time. The later after opening that you arrive the worse the lines will be. We don't rent, but have observed the lines.

Thanks. I don't rent so haven't had to deal with that, but we do bring lunch and leave it in the car and walk back at lunchtime. I have noticed a lot of people leaving their bags outside the lodge so if you are comfortable leaving stuff (no worse than the cubbies I guess) it could cut down on the walking in boots. Heading up there tomorrow.

Yeah, but when you are skiing, everything is a line, right? Think about it. SO many new skiiers now, too - DH skis blacks only and he says even those have a long wait time.

Not unless it's a holiday. My DH and DD were skiing last Monday in PA and it was a ghost town.

So any suggestions about what time to arrive to rent? I’m thinking of going tomorrow bc it’s asynchronous day for MCPS and great conditions. Liberty slopes open 10a, so get there for rentals at 8:30? I can’t find anywhere what time rentals open- every link seems to take you to the Vail call line with half hour plus waits.
