worst engagement ring trends

Anonymous
I absolutely hate the somehow still ubiquitous princess cut stone with round diamond halo. Rose gold is often fairly tacky looking (not always though). What engagement ring trends do you hate?

The engagement ring. The whole practice is ridiculous

I don't get why people are still so fixated on diamonds. Boring.

I so wish I had a different stone! I don’t even wear mine anymore.

You kinda suck, OP. What a negative post and question. I feel for the people that are going to feel badly about their rings because of this negative sh*t. Seriously, what the f is your objective?

Hi, welcome to DCUM... why are you responding then?

the halo

rose gold too. I looks like fake gold or children's jewlery

I hate the small diamonds around the band, especially in combination with the halo.

Agree with PPs about the ridiculousness of the practice. I don’t have an engagement ring and DH and I don’t really wear our wedding bands.

Just get a ring with a different stone. I don't wear a diamond.

Maybe I should. I got one with a teeny ruby but I lost it. I just don’t wear anything now. The center stone of my ring is an heirloom so I like that about it, at least.

Im glad to hear that we aren’t the only ones who don’t wear our bands. DH once went on a business trip and somebody flirted with him super hard and the people he was with were confused when he rejected her. They thought he wasn’t wearing his ring on his trip out of town so he could have an affair. So I mean maybe we should but what a pain just so he can avoid that situation. Maybe if he ever goes on a business trip again he can get one off of Amazon and wear it.

I have heard of people getting their original setting reset with a gemstone instead of a diamond. I love moissanite (though very diamond-looking) and opal. Opal is too soft for daily wear unfortunately.

They make silicone bands for people who can't wear metal rings for various reasons. Maybe get a couple of those. https://ensorings.com/collections/silicone-rings

I couldn't wear my rings when I was pregnant, so I bought a larger plain white gold band to wear. Worked for me.
