Congrats on BU! DC was accepted to BU CFA as well in ED last year. Had similar options in the visual arts space. BU is a great fit. No regrets.

BU emailed DC, inviting them to move their application up to ED2 from RD. Saw this as a positive sign, and DC also focused on art (performing).

Speaking from DC's experience this IS a postive.sign. Same thing happened. ED2 acceptance came later.

Best wishes!

DC received the same email this week, I assumed that they sent to everyone who applied RD? Would be interesting if not…

They love the ease of getting into NYC, haven’t heard any complaints about the cold.

For Macalester, what HS courses (esp curious about if kids need Honors AP in all 5 "solids" and 4 years of Foreign Language to get into Mac. Does have strong grades and strong APs in history/Eng. 32 ACT.

Love how supportive this thread is, congrats to everyone’s awesome kid!

Great school! A hidden gem, with extremely high-rated ROI.

And kudos for Honors acceptance too.

It’s just outside NYC so not bitterly cold and weather that only varies slightly from the DC area.

My Mac sophomore only took three year of foreign language in HS. But be aware that the college has a language requirement (2 years' proficiency), so if they don't have enough ability from HS to take an exam to pass that level (two years of college language), your student would have to take a language at some point at Macalester. Mine didn't mind and actually started a new language in college.

They did take APs in HS math, science, and English.

My kid who got in EA had APs in all 5 (I assume you mean math, science, English, history, and FL) but I don’t think it’s strictly necessary.

DD added an acceptance from St. Olaf today with $37k. Woo hoo! Choices. Happy holidays, all.

When did they hear back after applying EA to Mac? And from where did they apply?
