APS: indoor HS sports but no school?

Anonymous
Can someone tell me how APS is allowing indoor basketball/wrestling but kids are not allowed to go to school socially distanced with masks. Priorities people. This is infuriating. These kids are playing/practicing 6 days a week and my kid can’t go to school in person for 2 days.

DCUM already discussed this ad nauseum in December when it became clear it would happen across most of northern Virginia.

Umm, have you been living under a rock for the past few months? Winter sports are almost over.

Time to get soccer back. Sick and tired of this life-limiting BS

Where have you been living that people couldn't play soccer?

I'm saying it louder for people in the back SCHOOLS ARE NOT OPEN DUE TO STAFFING ISSUES. THERE ARE NO STAFFING ISSUES WITH SPORTS.

Kids have been playing soccer since June, all fall, all winter.

this. Coaches are willing to coach, teachers aren't willing to teach in person. The optics are terrible, but that's not a reason to further screw the kids and cancel sports

APS doesn't give a sh$& about optics. I'm just glad sports are a go thanks to their coaches who fought for them (along with many others) to be able to play.

Ha. I raised this issue on this site in the fall when APS caved on high school winter sports. And I got shouted down by a bunch of screamers about how their kids need social outlets. People are nuts.

And there have been how many outbreaks on teams from the winter. I'll wait. No, leet me help you. NONE. Yes, there were cases but no outbreaks.

But we're a bunch of nuts who want our kids to have some exercise and social outlet. How dare we.

Let me guess your kid hasn't left the house since March.

What is an outbreak? Yorktown basketball cancelled games and practices for at least a week? Massless indoor sportswear NOT recommended by the CDC, by the way.

But in person school IS recommended by the CDC, yet here we are. Thanks APS.
