But in person school IS recommended by the CDC, yet here we are. Thanks APS.

So, you pick and choose when we should follow CDC guidance. Must follow for school, but ok to ignore for sports. Also, CDC says safe with masks, distance, and cohorts. Guess what? APS isn’t planning to cohort middle or high school students. So no, the CDC does not recommend return to school based on the APS plan for middle and high school. Only elementary.

I’m not picking and choosing ANYTHING. Just stating the facts. What I think has absolutely no bearing on what this ass backwards county does. Just point out the facts.

The good news is, according to APE, there won’t be ANY parties after school opens. High schools will be MAGICALLY safe. #SAFER IN SCHOOL.

Kids are wearing masks when they play indoor basketball (in Fairfax, at least)

FWIW, wrestling was not allowed.

Winter season is almost over and was a success. At the last Wakefield PTA meeting, the principal said that several basketball teams had to quarantine because Wakefield played teams that ended up having a positive case. No known transmission to WHS athletes. No known spread among WHS athletes.

My kid was one of the many who participated. It was so beneficial -- physically, socially, even academically. Kid was SO MUCH happier -- better focused. We are all sad the season is basically over.

I'm one of those parents who fought APS to do this and I'm proud to have had a role in reversing the call. This was a good thing for our kids.

AND, showing that it can be done is one teeny tiny step into showing APS that it is possible to have kids safely in buildings.

+1 great news. I think people hear games are cancelled and assume outbreak. No outbreaks, but individual teams quarantine for 14 days after exposure to prevent outbreaks. It worked like it was supposed to.

My kid participated. There was one case on her team. Kid want to a Yorktown party and got it there (we're not Yorktown). No one else on the team got it and no one had to quarantine.

I'm beyond happy that my kid had a senior season, as shortened and modified as it was. Gives me hope that her spring sport will be a go.
