Had my first baby in early September. Gained about 43 pounds during pregnancy (I know, a bit too much) and prior to that put on about 10 pounds from IVF and all the hormonal meds. Feeling pretty good and back to working out (we got the mirror for Christmas and I'm at it every day). Stopped breastfeeding after 3 months and now it's much easier to diet. Weight would seriously not budge in the first 3 months. Anyone else have this experience? Does it keep getting easier? Should I keep toning to get rid of the stomach fat? Still have a good 17 pounds to lose and I'm finally, finally feeling like it can be done. I need the 17 pounds off before spring/summer because we are looking to get pregnant again and I don't want to be carrying the weight from the last pregnancy. |
| I had about 15 pounds to lose, and the only thing that worked for me was counting calories and careful meal planning. Toning exercises are great but won't help you lose belly fat. |
| I developed severe ppd and ate nothing for 3 weeks |

I was borderline overweight when I got pregnant and gained 60 lbs. The first 30 came off with little to no effort. But the last 30 wouldn't budge, despite me exercising. What it really took was cutting bread/carbs/sugar and alcohol. I also did cardio and strength training 4-5x/week. Lost all of the weight and then some within 4 months.
While low carb is a good way to get quick results, I didn't find it to be sustainable in the long term. I decided to give IF a shot when the pandemic started and its worked out really well for me. I feel like I could live like this forever. I've lost an additional 20 lbs and I don't restrict any food groups. |
| I did WW and it was pretty easy to follow. |
| I used My Fitness Pal app to track food, I didn’t even realize how much I was snacking. Lost majority of the weight except for last 5 lbs within 4 months, was under PP weight within 7 months. You got this! |
| IF worked for me. I could never lose weight while breastfeeding. I only ate at dinner so I really didn't have to watch what I ate and easily lost those final 20 lbs or so in a couple months. This is in addition to Peloton workouts and yoga, which I had been doing anyway. |
| I gained 20 pounds from breastfeeding. I’ve managed to lose all of it by making sure I’m at a calorie deficit and using a food scale to meticulously keep track of my calories on my fitness pal. |
| How’s your diet honestly? I’m six months post third baby and I’m having a hard time losing that last 5-6 pounds but I’ve gotten into some bad habits like snacking on handfuls of chocolate chips and not drinking nearly enough water. I’m able to make progress when I don’t eat after dinner, don’t eat any treats, and snack on fruit instead of other stuff. Basically I need to just buckle down for a month. If I had to be in real pants I probably would be there already. |
+1. It's getting better and I'm more aware of it (especially post holiday). It's amazing what 1500 calories really looks like! |
