| We just got called and offered an in person spot. We’re turning it down. The numbers are so high and the added risk just doesn’t seem worth it. Anyone else doing this? |
| Yup. |
|
Lots of people are. I know several people who have moved up waitlists and been offered spots after being initially denied. That happens because spots become available.
No way in hell I'd send my kid in now unless there were no other options. If I felt they needed socialization I'd facilitate a smaller safer playgroup. If academics weren't working I'd hire a tutor. Realizing others can't afford these options, I'd save the in-person spaces for them. |
| I told the school in advance not to call me. |
| I definitely think people are. Given how the waitlist is moving. We were uncertain what to do and ultimately left it up to our child who really wanted to go back, even if it meant changing teachers and waking up earlier. But I definitely would have been ok if it had gone the other way. |

I’m scared of the numbers, but DC really needs it, so we said yes.
Sounds like the yes rate at our school was high. |
The yes rate at our school is really high too, as were the survey results requesting in person school so no surprise there. DC got a spot and we accepted it. DL has been an unmitigated disaster. |
| Yes we turned down for PreK 4. Our childcare situation is working out fine and my son does not do well with changes and I am afraid that this will not be consistent. |
| Yes, turned it down. Covid numbers are just too high. Plus he would have to switch teachers, and his teacher right now is great. |
| Yes, said no. Rates too high and DL is going OK for us. |
|
If I NEEDED the childcare I’d send my kids back.
We are making it work at home, so we will keep it that way. Not perfect or even good. But - it just feels safer. |
| If offered, we'd turn it down. Kids are doing OK. Someone else might need it more. |
| It’s a disaster for DL for us. Tearing marriage apart with stress. We can’t do it. But I’d still turn it down. |
| I did for my 4th grader. |
| Yes we did. We probably will until DH and I are vaccinated. You have to be okay with getting sick to send them in now. I know that parents at our school are being irresponsible too so no way in hell am I sending the kids in to be around kids who are flying places or going out to eat. That’s nuts. |
