| Anyone with insider knowledge on whether these games in January and February to North and South Carolina are happening? We have been told nothing. We have no hotel reservations which makes me think they aren't happening but the coach keeps asking the girls if they are excited to go to North Carolina in 2 week. Any ECNL team managers or coaches with knowledge out there? |
| More info coming today or tomorrow |
Why wouldn't the game be going on? The Carolina teams have been playing each other twice as much as NOVA clubs have played, which means travel is fine. As for our club, you make your own travel and hotel since covid has put a halt to bus travel and multi-family rooms sanctioned by the club. Put it this way, the fact they haven't been canceled means they are on. It will be a simple task to book a room for a couple nights in the cities where the Carolina teams have fields. Lastly, Carolina teams just traveled to the ECNL Florida games suggesting they are freely practicing and feel comfortable enough to travel. We have every indication these games are on. |
| The above ignores the fact that the DMV is a sanitized bubble where its residents live in a alternate reality from the the rest of America. Notice that the DMV’s ECNL teams that attended the Florida showcase were those not technically inside the bubble. In reality to COVID rates in NC are lower than they are in VA. |
Loudoun ECNL went to Florida. And rumors are they’re bringing covid. |
Interesting, a 'sanitized bubble', yet at same time, higher rates that neighboring state...? So it would seem the Carolina clubs would want to cancel the games so we 1) don't bring it down or 2) they don't come into our infected covid riddled-but-at-same-time sanitized bubble. Shouldn't this mean no Richmond United vs McLean/BRYC as RU is outside the coveted DMV bubble? |
NC Courage / NCFC didn't travel to the Florida ECNL Showcase. They pulled out of the last two ECNL events using COVID concerns as an excuse.....probably more to do with financial savings though. If clubs like VDA and Loudoun can attend the non-mask wearing ECNL showcase in FL, then no reason why traveling to NC/SC shoudl be an issue. |
| Did players wear masks while playing in Florida showcase? |
nope, coaches and refs had no masks either. we all know the state of florida has treated this whole pandemic like its a joke, but this shows ECNL holds little regard as well. I don't know what the medical advisor ECNL hired is doing. |
| You sound jealous and upset that this happened. |

OP here
Yes I saw that Loudoun and VDA took some of their older teams to Florida. In December the NC teams were supposed to come up here and didn't. I don't know if the decision was that local teams didn't want them to bring COVID, the NC teams didn't want to travel or if ECNL put a stop to it. Our club tells us nothing until 2 days before. If anyone with an ECNL team finds anything out I would love to hear. Looks like all of the NOVA ECNL teams should be packing our bags for next weekend. |
Same thought exactly. How are these national, high travel, events for children going on right now and how are they being condoned by clubs leagues and worst of all... coaches from institutions off higher learning. |

I am upset. I have lost loved ones to covid. Why are big travel events happening at this time.? People are being begged not to travel right now. Seems very irresponsible from so called professional organizations tasked with providing services to minors. |

Are you telling them about all this insight and sadness that you alone apparently have? |
Rhode Island has been the most restrictive state in the US, and has the highest rate of infections in the US right. California has had numerous lockdowns and is right behind. You explain how this happens. Please. Shutting things down apparently isn't having much impact. I am not disputing your right to worry, but your assumptions about state/local policies and their outcomes are provably wrong. |
