Where can you get into middle at 6th grade?

If you aren't in boundary for one you like, where can you get into a middle school at 6th grade, or after 5th, I guess?

You can lottery into any of them. You won't get into Latin, Basis, and most likely Deal and Adams. The rest you have a shot at.

DCI doesn’t have enough slots for its feeders.

Then why does it make waitlist offers?

Because it has to. Students from feeders still have to apply through My Schools. They're just bumped to the top of the list because they have preference

It doesn't have to make waitlist offers if it fills all of it's spots in the initial lottery. Are the waitlist offers possibly initial matches that then change their mind and the spot opens back up?

Won't get into BASIS? They've been admitting at least 2/3 of those wait listed by the start of school years, some years 3/4! There's a very good chance that your kid will be admitted to BASIS if you're patient. It's another story if the kid is a good fit for the curriculum and cramped building.

OP is asking for BASIS for 6th grade, not 5th.

I don't think it opens back up.

So DCI made 77 seats available for Chinese and then made 24 offers. Are we really to believe that over 100 kids matriculated from You Ying to DCI? And what accounts for the 20 seats and 20 more offers for Chinese in 7th grade?
And for French, 40 seats and 11 more offers. Stokes does not have that many kids in French. What am I missing here?

NP here. You got it right. DC got into DCI from YY without going on the WL. We turned it down. That spot went to someone on the WL.

Because YY has like 60 to 70 5th graders presently, right? Way less than the 77 spots at DCI that were offered.
