What are daycare centers doing at nap time to keep staff safe? The kids can’t wear masks to nap. |
No kids wear a mask in my 2.5yo son's class, and I think the next class up (where most of the kids wear a mask all day) doesn't nap anymore |

Its required that they have at least a designated hour for nap time at centers. At my sons school they do not wear masks while they eat or during nap time. Teachers continue to wear masks at all times and all teachers are tested each week for Covid, with students being test every other week (50% of students each week. Required for students 3 and older and by parent choice for younger.) |
Yup, the teachers are exposed to unmasked children from lunch time through the end of nap. The teachers keep their masks on, but the kids are unmasked.
It's a risk. It's our life. What do you think is happening if children go to group childcare (famimly child care or daycare centers?) Here's what would help us the most (I say this as a daycare director) commit to NOT playing with neighborhood children, stay in the school pod don't hang out with lots of neighborhood families - the more people you expose yourself and your child to, the more your child's friends are exposed to through you. don't get together in groups of 10 and more wear masks, for gods sake! don't see your families - I know you love your mother, but honestly, she may have been exposed to covid, you don't know. (I haven't seen my parents in their 80s for 11 months, I do this for myself and my teachers and my childcare families) and if you travel, be APPROPRIATE and QUARANTINE FOR THE NECESSARY DAYS afterwards don't cheat the system - if your kid is sick don't send them. if your kid has a runny nose, don't send them. if your kid feels sick, doesn't look healthy, etc, don't send them we are all trying to do the best we can but now more than ever it takes a village. Teachers and families are in this together. |
