Dr. Robert Footer or Reiter, Hill, Johnson?

Anonymous
I think that I am leaving Foxhall now that Dr. Sarafian is not taking insurance anymore. Does anyone have any feedback on Dr. Footer or the Reiter, Hill, Johnson practice?

Yes. I love Dr. Footer! You can search this forum. Lots of good things written about him.

I see Loveland at R & H, and have been with her for over 6 years. Love her, the practice is okay.

Very happy at Reiter, Hill - for several of the docs (not all of them by any stretch) and for the practice itself - but only in the Chevy Chase office, which is friendly organized, and runs quite smoothly. The DC office is a mess and the wait times can be criminal.

I love, love, love Dr. Footer. Great bedside manner, answers questions, good care! Plus, as a solo practioner you KNOW who you are seeing everytime and will likely be delivering your baby. He switches everyother weekend with another solo practioner Dr. Desousa, who is also very highly regarded! Also, his staff is amazing and helpful.

I started with RHJ early in my pregnancy. I liked all the Drs. I met...Dr. Jackson, Nevin, Osmun.... but I didn't like the fact that each time I went, I saw a different dr and wouldn't know who would be delivering my first. So, about 2 months ago, I switched to Dr. Footer mainly b/c he was a solo practice and my friend delivered with him. So far I have been really happy. He really takes the time to get to know you and I like knowing he will 99% be in the delivery room with me. I am really happy I made the switch...not so much b/c of the doctors, more because of the personal relationship and security of knowing I have one OB instead of a whole practice.

Thanks so much. This is REALLY helpful! I am still at Foxhall and I'm going to meet Dr. Pardo next week before making my final decision about leaving. I also have a meeting scheduled with Dr. Footer early in the week...everyone seems to really like him!

I am in the exact same situation. Since Dr Footer is solo, how hard is it to get appts w him? And how are wait times for appts? How does it work if someone goes into labor- does he cancel his appts for that day?

I am expecting my second and he delivered my first. I can only think of a few times I had to wait a long time, but that can happen anywhere. He only had to reschedule once due to someone having to deliver. That said, he had to do it for me because I was ready to deliver a little earlier than expected. He's great!!!

Really, please go with Dr. Footer! I switched because RHJ was giving me high blood pressure. Appointments are easy to get. You get bumped if someone goes into labor, but it's only happened to me once. So worth the personalized service and knowing your doctor so well. Plus, you know that there are only two people who will potentially deliver your baby: Footer or DeSouza (who is also very lovely). Loved Drs. Loveland and Jackson at RHJ but got a real grinch w/ DS #1, who really almost ruined the experience for me.

Dr. Footer is GREAT! He delivered my first and will be delivering my second. I never had a problem getting an appointment in his DC office. He only bumped me twice in the several years I've been seeing him because of someone going into labor, but then I think about my crazy long delivery and the fact that lots of people were likely bumped because Dr. Footer was by my side the whole time. His staff is great, too.

I just left Reiter Hill...loved Dr Johnson but the DC office is just intolerable, and you could deliver with a doctor you have never met. Good luck!

To the poster who just left Reiter Hill....where did you decide to go?

I wrote about seitching from RHJ to Footer about 2 months ago. The first time I went to meet him, I had a 45 minute wait and was about to leave. However, I was glad I stayed and and so happy I made the switch. I haven't had to wait long for any other appointments and he said that he rarely has to cancel appointments...I still can't figure out how he does it all, but it seems to work. FYI- one thing about Dr. Footer's office is the equipment (at least in the DC office) is much more "low tech" than RHJ. The doppler he uses must be from the 70's-80's! However, he does offer you a sonogram every appointment...even though it is an old machine. It's kind of like going back in time to the "good ol' fashion" doctors who took their time with you and didn't have all the bells and whistles. I happen to like that....but if you are into all the high tech stuff, it may throw you for a loop.
