| Are there any all day camps (or alternatively, day camp with enough aftercare to constitute a full day), that run under $300 a week? I work in the city, so would have to be close to DC. TIA! |
| MCCA runs all day extended care camps for under $300/week - $225 to be exact. They are run out of the schools. There are some that are relatively near the border with NW DC. |

Wonders Child Care runs a great all-day camp at Somerset Elementary School right near Friendship Heights. I think if you do the early bird tuition it is close to $300 per week. They have an open house on March 14. http://www.wonderschildcare.org/

dc parks and recreation has a variety of camps that are very affordable and open to non residents. depending on the type of camp and where in the city it's located, they programs rival many suburban programs at a much lower cost. camp day runs from 9 to 5, with an hour of before care and after care at either end.

There are plenty of cheaper camps of fine quality, that are not the Hot ones of Bethesda/Potomac and the richer circle of lawyers anonymous.
The camps I've signed up for my kid are all less than $200/week including before and after care. She may not be hobnobbing with the children of DC's elite, but she will be engaged in enriching activities and having fun. |
