So what are the ages when summer camp makes sense?
My baby is only 4 months and happily staying at home with Dad, but we are trying to budget for the future. Dad's been out of work so this is fine for now (actually perfect) but we may want something less than full-time day care soon, so he could work part-time and our baby will have some social time. Thanks in advance for any ideas. |
I'm curious what these are. Even the park and rec camps are a lot more than that with before and after care. |

14:19, I've never heard of camp for a kid under 3. Seems to be the minimum.
12:49, DC Parks and Rec is $50/week. I'm told it is $60/wk for before and after care. Pretty basic camp, of course. Haven't used it myself. |
| Wow! That's amazing pricing. The Fairfax Parks & Rec camps (even the basic "crafts and play" camps) are $200+ per week before adding after care. |
| I'm using a church-based day camp in Silver Spring and PG County park & rec camps. Interestingly, PG seemed to offer more options that Montgomery, with more camps that had before and after care, and the prices were generally cheaper. |
| You dont' give an age, but I think Sidwell's community service camp is less than $300. But it is for MS and above. |
| Yes, the Tenley Circle Camp is $250/week for a full day. You can check out the camp, which is for 2.5 to 13 year olds at www.tenleycircle.city-gate.org. |
| One of the best camps I've ever seen is in Silver Spring. You can find out about them at www.campsonshine.org. They bring in staff from all over the country and only pick the best staff. Their prices are about $200-250 per week depending on the age group. They've won many awards and I only ever hear amazingly positive things about them. You should check it out |
| FYI - Camp Sonshine is a Christian camp. |
