along with most others, I'm sure!
any grand ideas to motivate or energize them to keep them going through this tough experience. Daughter has dyslexia and son has ADHD which seems to make DL slightly more challenging... |
Mine are 3rd and 6th, and are resisting returning to schooling tomorrow. Listening in for any suggestions...
Bribes.
Definitely bribes, and I will need some myself too. Dreading.
Mine, too. Not the 4th grader, but my teens are very low. I feel your pain.
3rd grader here and he has no desire to go back. This is a kid who asked to read the constitution over break. Distance learning is making him miserable.
My kids are always upset and anxious the days before school starts back after break. No difference this year.
Is it too late to withdraw from school?
spoken from someone who's kids have no disability. And no, it's quite different this year... |
In Va you can withdraw at any time.
It’s asynchronous. We just skip those anyway. Complete waste of time.
There's not going to be much you can do with the 7th grader, except bribe him. My son has fairly severe ADHD, and this year has been rough, but, as an 11 year old, he can try to earn something special (e.g. extra video game time) through compliance with school, but, at the end of the day, he's going to have to push through and do it either way.
I'm sending out my withdrawal notice tomorrow. Woo!
My 4th grader is depressed about going back to in-person school tomorrow. The holidays are over, the winter looms and it’s still dark before dinner.
My 4th grader with ADHD is sad the holiday break is over. As a full time working mother who will have to go back to overseeing school plus my own job I’m really really sad.
