First fill out and send a Notice of Intent to your local school district. Then contact your child's school and ask if they have a withdrawal form for you to fill out. |
Same. And apparently his school is going to start ending at 4:15 instead of 3:15 so that’s even less playtime outside before dark. Ugh. |
| My kid loved school k-4. She cried last night talking about school starting on Tuesday. Apparently tomorrow is now another day off.... |
| My kids are not complaining. Then again, I didn’t really ask them. I always tell them their whole life is a vacation. We are at a beach house with a heated pool. They can still go swimming and fishing after school is over. |

I opted my MS kid out of the morning check in today...they're absolutely useless and I saw no reason to end the break that way. My HS kid usually has a Google form to complete for Mondays but they didn't post one.
Something tells me that neither of them is thrilled about going back tomorrow, but nobody has complained to me about it. They know it's not as if they have a choice. Plus, January is always sort of a waste in FCPS with all of the days off (and the MS, at least, is even worse this year since it's announced that 1/19 and 1/21 are now asynchronous days meaning my kid will go a 10 day period with only one day of synchronous learning and even that is a two hour early dismissal). |
| We’ve instituted Whatever Wednesdays to get us through the next few sucky winter months with nothing to look forward to. After school and homework is done, you can do whatever you want (my kids otherwise do not have access to screens, so this may not appeal to your kids if they do). You can then eat whatever you want for dinner wherever you want to. Obviously there are limits (you can’t decide you want to go to Disney World or have dinner at a steakhouse), but just the ability to have one afternoon over which you have complete control on hump day seems to help (we tried it out the two weeks before Christmas break). I will say though that my kids are doing school in person, so they’re not on screens during the day. Perhaps there’s a way to tweak this idea if you don’t want them on screen after doing DL all day. Good luck. This sucks. Just try to find something small for you all to look forward to. |
