Where to go for u13 girl?

Anonymous
My daughter is on a pre-Ecnl team but she also plays another sport and it is clear that the ECNL team does not want her to play anything but soccer. She likes soccer and is good but isn’t sure she wants to give up the other sport and is not super excited for the ECNL travel. So, where would a rising u13 girl go to keep playing soccer with a good club in Virginia?

Thanks in advance.

MSI Classic League for soccer, keep playing the other sport.

OP here- she doesn’t want to do ECNL but wants to keep playing soccer. I think having a paid coach is important.

Maybe Great Falls? I think their girls teams are successful in NPL.

There are only several clubs in the area with pre ecnl teams

Braddock road
McLean
Loudon
Bethesda
PWSI or VSA

So you are at one of these clubs. The good news is is that at U13 they usually have a second level team that is still decent but the commitment is not as high as the ECNL team. Here's the list of #2 level teams for those clubs

Braddock road - composite team
McLean Green
Loudon Red
Bethesda regional ecnl (it's not ecnl but it's called that)

PWSI or VSA - after these two teams get depleted to form VDA a lot of the remaining better players don't stick around because the level of coaching isn't all that good at that point

MSI Classic does have paid coaches. But since you're looking in VA, i would suggest doing some research on where teams play and find a coach that will fit for your needs. Start talking to clubs now and seeing if you can attend some practices. I would bet the smaller clubs play more locally. Also, a lot of second teams probably don't require as much commitment as the first teams.

Vienna has competitive non-ECNL teams. Their 2009 team is decent. Their 2008 team is very good and has a few 2009 players on it. She may be able to play up

Depends where you live. Arlington, Alexandria, SYC, Vienna: all are good options.

Herndon's pretty good too - if you don't want ECNL

FCV isn't ECNL and never will be, they are a good starter club to just have fun and stay low-key

Curious what club you are at. Loudoun has a number of ECNL players playing travel basketball.

Are we still talking about 2008 girls as appears we never have enough of it or we move on to the 2009 girls?

2009 girls; not much of a debate' it's Arlington and then everyone else!
