I want a quick SUVish vehicle, but do not want to spend luxury prices

Anonymous
I would like to get a smaller to midsize SUV (5 seater, max > 70 cf cargo).

I am noticing several vehicles (three at least) that have options:

1) (based on prior ownerships top choice): Subaru Outback XT
2) Mazda cx5 turbo
3) Ford Edge ST

The care must have driver assist. Ideally some type of autopilot, but LKA, cross traffic detection, adaptive cruise, etc.

It also has to be comfortable.

I am currently driving a 2016 Subaru Legacy which I find too sluggish.

I have a Toyota RAV4 hybrid and absolutely love it. Would that suit your needs and budget? My teens and I find DH’s Subaru Outback very sluggish as well.

Same, and the Sport mode button turns the car into something quite zippy indeed. I call it the Mazda Button.

Honda CR-V. They also have the CR-V Hybrid.

I drive a mercedes suv with a v8 engine. It’s very quick. On loaner I’ve had a Mazda 5. It was a really cute little car with some zip. Check it out.

Also check the RAV4 hybrid and Volvo xc40.

OP, I rented a Ford Edge and LOVED it, particularly because of how “peppy” it was. I was super impressed with how it drove and it’s overall responsiveness.

Had one of these as a rental and hated it.

Had a cx5 and loved it and upgraded to cx9 bc I was carpooling kids a lot (pre-covid). Sold my cx5 to my mother who loves its pep. Wish the camera and infotainment were a little better but it's a great value and a great car.

I also love my RAV4. Paid $30K for AWD, heated leather seats, driver assist, other bells and whistles.
