4yo says she’s tired, but no fever/other symptoms?

Anonymous
For the past 3 days or so, DD has said she’s tired. No fever, cough, etc. She’s been in full-time preschool until they let out for winter break on the 23rd.

She’ll play, but less than normal. She wants to lay on the couch with her blanket and suck her thumb more than usual.
Any ideas as to what could be going on?

Get her tested. Not normal. Could be something not Covid but you need to know.

Is she actually napping?

If not, she could just be adjusting to an unstructured day and missing the stimulation of peers. It could be that plus the shortened daylight.

If it persists or if other symptoms appear, I’d call the ped.

Growth spurt? How’s her appetite?

Keep her home and observe; get an oxymeter.

My kiddo had mono... we tested for everything under the sun. No fevers or anything, just tired all day for weeks.

She might not actually be napping. We just have her stay in her room for a bit in the afternoon, but don’t really check to see if she’s napping or just playing quietly.

This is weird to me. Why aren’t you interacting with her if you’re worried she may be sick?

Her only symptom is being tired. I want her to sleep. She’s only in her room for a little while before we get her.

COVID

I used to think not covid when people were posting similar. Then, one op posted "is it a cold" I had a sense it was corona. Since then she updated and it was, sadly, the coronavirus. I don't want it to be that op, but please test your baby girl. Sadly, due to absolute ignorance and the refusal of people in the U.S. to follow simple mask-wearing and distancing, the virus is literally everywhere. You likely had to have her in preschool is you have to go to work in person, it is unfortunate, but it is the reality that wealthy people do not understand.
I hope it is not covid, but you really ought to get a test for her and all of you.

Thanks everyone — we’ll get her tested.

Tested for being tired? I mean, who are you people?
OP, it’s the holidays. Your kid is probably wound up and not sleeping welll and I’m guessing they haven’t been getting enough outdoor time like mine. It’s normal. If it goes on for two more weeks then maybe call the doc if it’s setting something off in your gut, but c’mon. She’s tired. You’ve been parenting for four years at least. You don’t need to crowd source this.

If you will see anyone outside your household before Jan 4, get her tested. My friend’s three kids all just tested positive with 0 symptoms- they caught because the dad had mild symptoms. Three kids at our preschool have had Covid and all had 0 symptoms- they were only tested because adults around them tested positive after having symptoms.
