We're trying not to carryout as often. But the kids still insist on pizza. I've never been a fan of frozen pizza, but is there anything out there that is reasonably tasty and reasonably nutritious?
Try Amy's brand. We love the whole wheat pesto version.
My kid's love the Newman's Own cheese pizza. I think it is pretty good, too!
You can also buy plain cheese frozen pizza and top it yourselves. Our kids get a big kick out of it. A favorite lately is "Mexican" pizza with refried beans, salsa, cheese and corn.
DiGiorno Rising Crust pizza = awesome. Make sure you get the Rising Crust, not Traditional Crust.
We LOVE Amy's - my favorite is the spinach kind. |
Not necessarily healthy, but we also favor DiGiorno Rising Crust. Costco also has decent take and bake pizzas for 9.99 (they're very large).
When we're not doing carryout pizza, we make our own using a premade shell, tomato sauce, shredded mozz. cheese, and whatever toppings we feel like (pepperoni, broccoli, etc.). Not much more work/time than a frozen pizza and fun for the kids.
Trader joes pizzas are very good. BBQ chicken but also the more traditional ones. Also love the onion/ham tarte but probably not too kid friendly.
Vermont pizza...they sell it at whole foods. Also, Kashi just came out with pizaa that is good. We usually buy a bag of dough at trader joe's for $1, and top it ourselves. Ends up being a fun activity.
Vermont Flatbread. (All vegetarian, though, if that's an issue.)
THIS WOULD BELONG IN THE FOOD FORUM. IT IS FOOD, NOT OFF TOPIC.
I think Newman's is decent. What makes it even better is baking it on a pizza stone instead of a cookie sheet or on the oven rack. I use the one from Pampered Chef, but I've heard that you can use certain kinds of kitchen tile from Home Depot/Lowe's.
I really like Trader Joe's and Vermont's. But, I really like to buy the Pillsburg Pizza Crust and make our own.
Ugh..Pillsbury
