Fedex took a week to deliver cheesecake

Anonymous
I ordered cheesecakes last week from Harry & David to be delivered to my mom and my brother.
Ordered the 16th, were supposed to arrive in 2 days on the 18th. I assume they are packed frozen, or with dry ice, or something.
Looking at FedEx they MIGHT be delivered today.
Tracking says they were shipped on the 16th. Although that could be a lie.
Not complaining, but are these going to still be good if and when they are delivered?
Do I need to warn my mom and brother not to eat them because they’ve been with FedEx for a whole week?

Hmm yeah probably want to toss.

Obviously you complain to the vendor too.

A friend got a large seafood & meat bundle that took 5 days to deliver. She obviously dumped it all because it was warm when it arrived and H&D replaced immediately. Still took three days to arrive but dry ice was still cold and everything was frozen. They will replace, I would call, but also if they don’t need it for the holiday, might want to wait for replacement until shipping glut goes down after Friday/this weekend.

toss and ask for a refund. It's their responsibility to ensure delivery in a reasonable amount of time

+1. Definitely contact H&D, but give it a week or so to subside.

I’d be shocked if they shipped out the order the same day they received it, given that the order was placed 9 days before Christmas. They probably generated the shipping label that day, but didn’t actually ship it until later. Verify the date it actually was received by FedEx.

There should be material in the box that says the details. We just got a Harry and David's box today from FedEx - and we had been on the look out for the delivery for about a week.

Our box has a shipping label that says date packed - and is labeled "standard overnight".

So even thought we knew it was coming - it was not actually packed until yesterday.

Was it frozen when it arrived?

I ordered Murray's cheese to be shipped tomorrow and delivered on the 24th. In hindsight, that was probably a very poor decision.

Not necessarily! I ordered caviar a couple weeks ago and picked delivery date for this week. It was delivered this week right on schedule (Fedex Overnight). It was in transit for maybe 11-13 hours, and the Ice packs were still hard.

Ah, thanks for this! I feel a little less anxious now! (Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things.)

Why are services within the country so messed up? My parents mailed me a package from Asia via DHL last Thursday and it arrived at my MoCo home 2 days ahead of schedule today.

The sheer volume of packages being sent is far beyond anything they’ve ever handled before. My household has received no less than 30 packages in the last two weeks alone. That far exceeds the number of items we’ve ordered before. And it’s not my fault that Amazon ships every single item individually, despite how I instruct them.

On the plus side, I haven’t driven my car in weeks, which is a far cry from the usual Christmas routine.
